I am attending the American Association of Birth Centers (AABC) annual conference in Minneapolis this weekend. If you are wanting to open a birth center in your town, the AABC has excellent information on their website to help you get started.
The American Association of Birth Centers is a non-profit organization funded by membership dues and grants, that was founded by Childbirth Connection (formerly the Maternity Center Association).
You are eligible to become a member if you run a birth center or are a birth professional. Membership is also open to students, consumers, associations, and corporations if they agreed to the basic principles of the AABC regarding birth. The principals include attention to safety, non-intervention in natural childbirth, individualized care for families, not over-charging or generating unnecessary costs, and participation of midwives or docs. (So birthing without midwives is out…)
I give the breakfast keynote speech this Saturday, September 28, 2013 7 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. I like to think of it as a quiche note. Get it? ?
The AABC conference is being held at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Minneapolis.
The late-rising worm doesn’t get eaten.
But get up at at the break of dawn anyway and come to my talk.
Debra Pascali-Bonaro will also be speaking at this AABC annual conference. I’m delighted to be in such good company.
